If the Cowboys can beat the Eagles on Sunday, there's a good chance Philly will return to Arlington, Texas, the following weekend for a wild-card matchup. But with a win this Sunday, the Eagles can secure the No. 2 seed and an opening-round bye. Let's take a look at all the scenarios for the Cowboys and Eagles:
  • As we mentioned, the Eagles can secure a No. 2 seed by beating the Cowboys on Sunday.
  • The Cowboys can secure the No. 2 seed with a win over the Eagles AND the Giants beat the Vikings AND the Packers beat the Cardinals. The Eagles would end up with the No. 6 seed in this scenario and have to travel to Minneapolis to play the Vikings.
  • The Eagles will be the No. 5 seed if they lose to the Cowboys AND the Vikings beat the Giants AND the Cardinals beat the Packers. They would return to Arlington for a first-round matchup against the Dallas in this scenario.
  • The Eagles would be the sixth seed if they lose to the Cowboys on Sunday AND the Vikings beat the Giants AND the Packers beat the Cardinals. Dallas would be the No. 3 seed and host the Eagles in the wild-card round.
  • The Eagles would be the No. 5 seed if they lose to the Cowboys AND the Vikings lose to the Giants AND the Cardinals beat the Packers. Philly would travel to Minnesota in the wild-card round.
