As most of you know, Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb is signed through the 2010 season. He received a hefty raise for leading his team to the NFC title game in '08, but the club curiously decided not to extend his contract past 2010.

In this morning's Philadelphia Daily News, columnist Rich Hofmann says he thinks this could be McNabb's final go-round with the Eagles. He thinks the Eagles should think about trading him after the season while the quarterback still has value. Of course, all bets are off if the Eagles make another deep playoff run. But anything short of that, Hofmann thinks McNabb's gone.

"The answer here is not obvious until you look at the contract," writes Hofmann. "McNabb has trade value only as long as he is under contract -- which means you trade him now or you have to extend him for X-number of years after the season, with a new signing bonus and plenty of color and pageantry (and a likely one-way ticket out the door for Kevin Kolb, whom you have previously identified as your future). If the Eagles lose tomorrow, does anybody really think they are going to do that? Or that they should?"

Les Bowen of the Daily News thinks it would take a disastrous performance by McNabb on Saturday for anything to change. He doesn't see any reason why the Eagles would try to move a perfectly healthy quarterback who's surrounded by exciting young weapons. And of course there's the franchise tag if the Eagles wanted to keep McNabb after the 2010 season.
