Ex-Eagles making an impact in Colts-Jets
By Dan Graziano
Former Eagles cornerback Lito Sheppard has given up a deep ball to Colts wide receiver Pierre Garcon in the first half of the AFC Championship Game. Sheppard was forced into the game because of an injury, and Peyton Manning made him pay immediately.
Bob Brookover of the Philadelphia Inquirer had an excellent story this morning about two Colts players with Eagles ties. Middle linebacker Gary Brackett, who grew up an Eagles fan in Glassboro, will be an unrestricted free agent. He'd be an excellent fit for Sean McDermott's defense, but I think the Colts will try to retain him.
Defensive tackle/end Raheem Brock was a seventh-round pick by the Eagles in 2002, but he never made it to training camp because of a discrepancy in the rookie salary pool. The Colts quickly snapped him up and he has started more than 100 games. Here's a story I wrote about Brackett during Super Bowl week three years ago. In the span of 17 months, Brackett lost his father, mother and brother.
