Reese not concerned about Osi
By Dan Graziano
INDIANAPOLIS -- I just spent 45 minutes with New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese, who stopped by Lucas Oil Stadium this morning. He touched on a number of topics, but obviously defensive end Osi Umenyiora's name came up pretty quickly. Reese is one of the calmest guys you could meet, so Umenyiora's recent comments about retirement didn't seem to faze him.
"It's just offseason chatter," said Reese. "There's always one or two guys involved in offseason chatter. I expect everyone to be ready next season, including Osi."
I think coach Tom Coughlin was more bothered by Umenyiora's recent comments than Reese. On Friday, he refused to give Umenyiora the starting guarantee that he's seeking. I'll be back with much, much more on the Giants in a moment.
