Ex-Giants DT Robbins to join Rams

By Dan Graziano

Fred Robbins' career with Giants had run its course, but now he'll have a chance to reunite with Steve Spagnuolo in St. Louis. Robbins and the Rams have agreed to a three-year contract, according to's John Clayton.

Robbins has an opportunity to make $12 million over the three years if he reaches certain incentives, reports Clayton.

Robbins started 63 games for the Giants and was a valuable part of their '07 Super Bowl title. Spagnuolo was the defensive coordinator for that Giants team and he's always had a lot of respect for Robbins. The Giants decided to bench Robbins as their defense imploded in '09.

I know that Tom Coughlin has a great appreciation for Robbins and I'm sure he's pleased to see him receive a decent contract. Robbins struggled with injuries down the stretch in '08 and he never looked right in '09.
