This story has sort of been overlooked nationally, but Star-Telegram beat writer Mac Engel had a great report on how the Jerry-T.O. breakup went down. Here's an excerpt from the story, which was told by Jones' No. 1 son, Stephen:
"Jerry Jones explained his decision to release Terrell Owens using a table cloth and a black pen," writes Engel. "The Cowboys owner drew a line and wrote both men's names on each side. He then told Owens that he felt he gave him 100 percent and vice versa, which the receiver agreed with. Then Jones drew an arch over both names and wrote 'Dallas Cowboys.'
"Unfortunately we have this bigger thing up here," Jones said. "Unfortunately I've got to make the decision for what's right for something a lot bigger than you, a lot bigger than me, and a lot bigger than our relationship. It's time for us to part ways business wise.
"Owens' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, immediately stepped in and tried to find a different solution during the meeting last week in South Florida. I've agonized for two months over this decision," Jones said. "I've made up my mind. Let's shake hands and move forward."
It was at that point that agent Drew Rosenhaus jumped from his seat and provided Jones with some other solutions, according to Engel's story. Jones said his decision was final and the meeting ended soon after.
If you're thinking about breaking up with your significant other, Jones has provided a pretty interesting option. Let me know what you guys think?
