Andy Reid calls a reverse with QB decision

By Matt Mosley

The Philadelphia Eagles have announced that Michael Vick is the club's starting quarterback a day after coach Andy Reid said the exact opposite. Reid will hold a news conference to discuss his flip-flop decision at 6:30 ET.

It's a stunning turn of events for an organization that decided to trade star quarterback Donovan McNabb to a division rival largely because of its faith in Kevin Kolb. Now they've given Kolb a contract extension and they have Vick in the final year of his contract.

I understand the argument that Vick gives the team the best chance to win in the short term, but think about what Reid's doing to Kolb. He'll probably say all the right things, but this has to be extremely frustrating for him. It looks like the Kolb era lasted two quarters.

I think Reid probably came to this decision because he doesn't trust that Kolb can function behind this offensive line. Or maybe he just doesn't have any faith in Kolb. I'm sure much of the fan base will applaud this decision, but I think Reid will end up with egg on his face.

I'll have much, much more after the news conference.
