Why are things so quiet at Valley Ranch?

A couple of days after the Cowboys' indoor facility collapsed at Valley Ranch, I started reaching out to club employees who were in the building in an effort to prepare a story for ESPN.com. I've interviewed people who were under gag orders before (the Parcells era comes to mind), but this was different. It was obvious that everyone had been warned not to say a word -- and I thought that was a shame.

Some remarkable things happened in that facility during those terrifying moments. On Thursday, Fort Worth Star-Telegram columnist Randy Galloway wrote an excellent column about the Cowboys' silence. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says part of the reason no one's talking is out of respect for the psychological trauma that a lot of employees are dealing with. He also admits that legal ramifications require that the team keep most things in-house. In time (perhaps training camp), we'll hear more of the powerful stories that came out of that tragic afternoon.
