What's this? Eagles cornerback Lito Sheppard's upset about his role on the team? I'm trying to figure out why this qualifies as news two days before the NFL season kicks off.
Lito's been saying this stuff to everyone (including me) ever since Asante Samuel was signed in March. Oh well, here's another round of Sheppard stories:
"When I'm out on the field, I'm playing for me," he said. "Anything that happens from that point, it's on me. I just have to make sure I can get out there."
I love to see a guy who's willing to put himself first. I've built my career on that philosophy. Oh, and one more thing: I'm not sure why people are calling the Eagles' cornerback situation a "logjam." Most teams would do anything to have three Pro Bowl-quality corners. That's why you don't hear Andy Reid and Jim Johnson reacting to Sheppard's whining. The man has no leverage. And the Eagles are not a benevolent organization when it comes to contracts.
