The latest on Barber's injury

Thanks for making us your first stop for Marion Barber injury news this week. I'm told Barber made "slight" progress in his recovery Thursday and was able to take limited reps in practice. For now, the Cowboys simply don't want to show their hand -- especially with the extra day to prepare for the Panthers.
"I can't predict it," coach Wade Phillips said. "He's day by day right now, but it can be a game-time decision by the time it gets here."
Barber's pushing hard to play Monday, but Felix Jones and Tashard Choice are receiving the majority of the reps in practice. At this point, I'd be a little surprised if the Cowboys decided to play Barber. If this were a playoff game, I think Barber finds a way to play. But it's the 0-2 Panthers in late September -- and the Cowboys have solid depth at running back.
I'd expect for Jones to have somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 carries and Choice to have at least 10 against the Panthers. With the way this offensive line is blocking, I think the Cowboys will be able to have success in the running game. I'll have my prediction for the game a little later in the day.
