Your daily Robert Griffin III fix

By Dan Graziano

Two days from now, barring the explosion of the sun, the Washington Redskins will select Heisman Trophy-winning Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III with the No. 2 pick in the NFL draft. This is an event about which Redskins fans have been extremely excited for quite some time -- even back before the Redskins made the trade with the Rams to secure the pick. It has been my experience, in writing this blog for the past several months, that any post I do about Griffin will be well read and well received by the many Redskins fans who stop by here on a regular basis.

To that end, I present an interview Griffin did on this morning's Mike & Mike radio show. In it, he discusses what he thought of last week's report that an anonymous scout said he had a selfish streak. He answers the question of who was the best athlete at Baylor this year by skipping over himself and women's basketball star Brittney Griner and instead picking his center, Philip Blake. (He seems to be taking every possible opportunity to help his buddy's draft stock these days.) He talks about his experience as a Subway pitchman, and what it's like to have a life-sized statue of himself made out of smokehouse chicken. And, yes, he addresses the issue of whether he'd rather have been the first pick in the draft instead of the second:
Griffin: "I'm glad I was given the opportunity to be the first pick, and now I get an even better opportunity to go to Washington."

Listen and enjoy, Redskins fans. I'm sure this won't be the last you hear from Mr. Griffin this week.
