Breakfast links: Two weeks to go
By Dan Graziano
Yeah, it's getting real now. Two weeks from tonight, the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants will play a real regular-season NFL football game at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Two weeks, people. That's only... well, it's like 10 more days of links. Unless I take a day off, which is something I'm considering, since it'd be the last one for a long, long time. Anyway, that's not your problem. You want links. Here are links.
Dez Bryant says he'll be there on Sept. 5 when the Cowboys open up against the Giants. Team's not committing yet, and someone really should remind Dez that the game's in New Jersey, not New York. But it's certainly encouraging that he's not worried about his knee injury keeping him out of the opener.
Jerry Jones says it's "ridiculous" to think Felix Jones' roster spot could be in jeopardy. I don't see why, but you know... he's the GM.
New York Giants
Tiki Barber, eat your heart out. Turns out Michael Strahan is the former Giant who's really hit it big in TV. He's the new Regis!
Mike Garafolo thinks David Wilson could play a significant role in the Giants' backfield this year, and he details Wilson's first day working with the first-team offense in practice.
Speaking of backup running back situations, Paul Domowitch looks at what the Eagles have behind starter LeSean McCoy. It's a little bit dicey.
I believe DeSean Jackson is overreacting to the coverage of his Monday admission to Lisa Salters that he held back last year to avoid injury.
John Keim has Redskins notes on Brandon Banks, whose spot on the roster is not at all assured, and fullback Darrel Young, whose return would be a welcome help to the run game.
London Fletcher says he's hoping to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Colts, though details about why he missed the Bears game remain a bit murky. If Fletcher doesn't play Saturday, you have my permission to be concerned. Especially if they keep refusing to say why.
