Felix Jones likely out in Dallas
By Dan Graziano
ESPNDallas.com's series on Dallas Cowboys free agents takes a look at running back Felix Jones, who's almost certain to find work elsewhere this offseason. The Cowboys have given Jones more than his share of chances over the years, but he hasn't shown an ability to hold up under a starter's workload or deliver the kind of consistent production the Cowboys need from their run game when he's been called on. Todd Archer's opinion is that Jones has played his last snap for the Cowboys, and this is a situation where it's probably best for both sides that he move on and try to see if it works out for him somewhere else.
I will say, however, that the Cowboys will need to find a replacement for him. Starting running back DeMarco Murray has established a troubling injury history already in his brief career, and the Cowboys can't trust him to be available to them for all 16 games. They may well like Phillip Tanner and/or Lance Dunbar, but neither of those guys has shown anything that rises to the level of trustworthy either. The Cowboys need to find a running back they feel can start if and when Murray has to miss games, and I imagine they will look this offseason to add one or two names to the competition for that backup running back spot once they cut ties with Jones.
