No Anthony Spencer at Cowboys practice
By Calvin Watkins
IRVING, Texas -- While Cowboys officials won't rule him out, starting defensive end Anthony Spencer wasn't at practice on Friday morning. Spencer is still recovering from knee surgery and said he suffered a setback when the knee developed some swelling earlier this week.
The Cowboys are still hopeful for a Spencer return, but it might be until Week 2 at Kansas City. Coach Jason Garrett wouldn't commit that for Spencer, however.
"We'll just see what he does here today and the next couple of days and see what his availability is," Garrett said.
Running back Lance Dunbar (foot) and safety Danny McCray (groin) also missed practice. Dunbar and McCray were running sprints during the open media access period for practice.
With Dunbar out, Phillip Tanner and Joseph Randle will pick up the snap total behind starter DeMarco Murray.
The McCray issue is interesting. He's the special-teams ace and second-team safety.
Based on the rehab work done this week, Dunbar and McCray should be ready for the Week 2 game at Kansas City.
