Jason Hatcher questionable versus Saints

By Todd Archer

IRVING, Texas –-- Defensive tackles Jason Hatcher and Nick Hayden were able to get on the practice field Friday on a limited basis, but only Hayden is a lock to play for the Dallas Cowboys against the New Orleans Saints.

Hatcher is listed as questionable but said he will be a game-time decision because of a recurring stinger that knocked him out of last week’s win against the Minnesota Vikings. Hayden bruised his ribs against the Vikings.

Hatcher only went through warmups and wore different shoulder pads that had a neck roll to offer more protection from a stinger. It is similar to the one that DeMarcus Ware has used with success to prevent stingers.

“It’s just one of those things that you got to see how it feels,” said Hatcher, who leads the Cowboys with seven sacks. “It felt OK today. We still got another 48 or so hours, so you never know how it’s going to progress. I’m trying to do everything in my power.”

In addition to treatment at the Cowboys’ facility, Hatcher is using acupuncture, muscle activation technique and massage.

“If I’m out there, I’m not worried about it.” Hatcher said. “My whole thing is just try to get out there Sunday if possible.”

Ware will make his return from a three-game absence with a quadriceps strain. He is listed as probable, as is wide receiver Dez Bryant, who has had some back tightness during the week but practiced some the last two days.

Wide receiver Miles Austin has not practiced in two weeks but he is listed as doubtful.

Cornerback Morris Claiborne (hamstring), safety J.J. Wilcox (knee) and linebacker DeVonte Holloman (neck) are out.

Defensive end George Selvie (shoulder), safety Barry Church (hamstring), wide receiver Dwayne Harris (hip), safety Danny McCray (hip, toe) and running back DeMarco Murray (knee) are probable.
