Cooley has Haynesworth's back
By Dan Graziano
Chris Cooley's done for the year because of a lower-leg injury, but he's still taking care of his teammates. In case you missed it, Skins All-Pro defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has drawn criticism (Marshall Faulk) for missing the past two games because of an ankle injury.
"I've been around him enough to know that there's an outside influence that bothers him," Cooley said on DC101. "Salary I don't think means anything to him. He likes to play. I know when people talk about him it bothers him. I've been around him to watch it. He hates it. I definitely feel like he's playing with a chip on his shoulder, and he's been scrutinized all year, but when that guy's in the game, he makes us much, much better defensively.
"Look at our numbers as far as sacks go. There's a reason for that. There's a reason Andre Carter has nine sacks now instead of two from last year, not just because he got a year older and better in his 11th season. The guy creates a huge push in the middle, so quarterbacks are forced to move into our ends instead of just being able to step up."
That was a nice defense of Haynesworth. Not sure what Carter will think of those comments.
