Hope you're sitting down for this one. Sources on the ground in Ashburn, Va., just informed me that the Redskins signed linebacker Alfred Fincher and released running back Eric Shelton.
Fincher, who was released by the Lions last Saturday, has been in the league for four years. The former University of Connecticut players has played in 24 career games, but he was put on the IR with a concussion last season.
Fincher (6-1, 238) was originally drafted by the Saints in the third round of the 2005 draft. He had 14 special teams tackles in 11 games as a rookie, but we haven't heard much from him since.
Please join me in welcoming Alfred to the division.
