Really interesting blog entry from ESPNDallas.com's Tim MacMahon on Cowboys defensive end Jay Ratliff, who spent the past month in Atlanta working out with Terrell Owens' former trainer. Buddy Primm is the Atlanta-based trainer's name and he used to live with T.O. off and on. By all accounts, Primm will not be moving in with Ratliff.
But it was interesting that Ratliff chose not to attend the Cowboys' OTAs until this week. He thought working with Primm and also participating in MMA training was important for him personally.
"It’s nothing against the team,” said Ratliff. “It’s just something I felt like I needed to do. I felt like I needed to get to Atlanta, hone in on my craft and focus on rehab. Whatever I feel like I’ve got to do to get an edge, I’m going to do."
Ratliff has the highest motor on the team and he's considered perhaps the toughest guy in the locker room. In fact, Keith Brooking recently named him the "one guy on the team I wouldn't fight."
I'm sure Brooking, a noted wrestling historian, is respectful of Ratliff's MMA background. And by the way, Primm's name came up when T.O. had his accidental overdose in Sept. '06. An excellent writer from the Dallas Morning News named Michael Granberry had the story.
