MINNEAPOLIS -- I take back my earlier declaration that Sunday night's game would have been better off played outside than in the Metrodome. Just walked through a chilly parking lot on the way into the building; it's 26 degrees as of 6:06 p.m. ET, and 16 mph winds are making it feel like 13 degrees. I think we'll all be better off inside.
A couple notes to chew on here during the buildup of this matchup between Chicago and Minnesota:
The Vikings will be wearing throwback uniforms, similar to what their teams wore in the 1970s. The purple is a bit darker, and the facemasks are grey instead of white. They also wore these uniforms on Sept. 30, 2007 -- a 23-16 home loss to Green Bay.
In another nod to the past, the Vikings will induct former defensive lineman John Randle into their Ring of Honor at halftime.
Take this for what it's worth: According to Elias Sports Bureau, this is the latest point in a season that the Vikings and Bears will play when they are tied for first place in the division. I think that means this is a good, big, late-season game.
Back with more soon.
