Last month, we discussed the possibility of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow ending up in the NFC North. Green Bay has a well-earned reputation for developing quarterbacks and a coach in Mike McCarthy who repeatedly has said he would "love" to work with Tebow. Minnesota, meanwhile, has one of Tebow's favorite college receivers in Percy Harvin and a long-term need at the position.
So it's notable that Vikings coach Brad Childress is scheduled to work out a number of Florida's draft-eligible players, including Tebow, during a trip to Gainesville, Fla., over the weekend. Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune has the story.
Childress will be the scheduled speaker at a coaches clinic in Gainesville on Friday, a bit of timing that will make it difficult for him to attend quarterback Jimmy Clausen's throwing session at Notre Dame. Tebow and center/guard Maurkice Pouncey are two of the more prominent players Childress is expected to see.
This time of year, you never know how much significance to place on draft news. So in this case, we'll just pass it along with the knowledge that Childress has already spoken highly of Tebow's leadership, competitiveness and aptitude for altering his mechanics.
