Rapid Reaction: Saints 42, Lions 7

There has been so much discussion about the Detroit Lions' chances of finishing 0-16 that few realize no team in NFL history had even started a season 0-15.

But that's the milestone Detroit passed Sunday in getting hammered at home by New Orleans. And now it's officially on: The Lions need to win next Sunday at Lambeau Field to avoid the first 0-16 season in NFL history.

Detroit's last victory at Lambeau Field? Why, that was only a few years ago. Er, 17 to be exact. That's right, the Lions haven't won in Green Bay since 1991. Their current tailback, rookie Kevin Smith, was exactly five years old at the time.

In all seriousness, the Lions will face as much scrutiny this week as any team in the playoff picture. Coach Rod Marinelli referred to increasing attention last week as "elevator music" that he couldn't hear. It's about to become a jet engine. Marinelli might want to look for ear plugs.
