UAB's Webb likely to be WR, not QB

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Let’s get this out of the way: It’s highly unlikely that UAB quarterback Joe Webb, Minnesota’s sixth-round pick, will play that position in the NFL.

Webb just said on a conference call that he’s been working almost exclusively at receiver since the Senior Bowl and that most teams have told him that is his best chance to play in the NFL. The Vikings have spoken to him about receiver and playing quarterback in a Wildcat formation, Webb said.

I’ll have more on Webb and the Vikings’ decision to essentially skip over the quarterback position in my final draft analysis, due to be posted later Saturday.
