It's official: We'll have a teacher vs. pupil(s) matchup next weekend at the Metrodome.
Philadelphia's 44-6 victory over Dallas made the Eagles the No. 6 seed in the NFC's playoff picture, meaning they'll take on the No. 3 seed in Minnesota. Vikings coach Brad Childress and defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier were both part of Reid's original coaching staff in 1999. Frazier spent three seasons with the Eagles, while Childress was in Philadelphia for seven.
UPDATE (8:35 p.m. ET): The NFL has scheduled the game for 4:30 p.m. ET next Sunday.
There has been one game between the teams since Childress took the Minnesota job: A 23-16 Eagles victory last season at the Metrodome.
Don't expect many surprises between two similarly-constructed teams. It's worth noting that the Vikings struggled mightily Sunday to contain New York's multi-faced blitz package. Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson was sacked twice and hit four other times.
The Giants' defensive coordinator is Steve Spagnuolo, another former Eagles assistant who uses the same scheme as current Philadelphia defensive coordinator Jim Johnson.
