OK, Brett Favre. It's safe to come out now. The big bad bear is gone.
The New Orleans Saints changed the landscape of the Minnesota Vikings' Sept. 9 season opener by surprisingly releasing defensive end Bobby McCray, the man responsible for twisting Favre's left ankle in the third quarter of the NFC Championship Game. The NFL later fined McCray $20,000 for the play. (Bet he wishes he had that money now!)
OK, I'm a little bored. But the Saints really did release McCray, and we can pretty much deduce he won't be a part of the NFC Championship Game rematch. (Maybe that means NFC North alumni Alex Brown will be the Saints' starter.) And clearly this is the news Favre has been waiting on before making a formal announcement.
