Week 1 Power Rankings: NFC North

ESPN.com's esteemed panel of power rankers finally has joined the crowd and reversed its thinking on the top of the NFC North. As you've surely heard by now, our Week 1 power rankings feature the Green Bay Packers ahead of the Minnesota Vikings by two spots.

Both teams remain in the top 5, a testament to what voters consider the preseason strength of this division.

If you're new to the Power Rankings, please don't confuse them with Power Rangers. The Power Rankings are a 1-32 ranking of the NFL teams with no regard to division, conference or, in some cases, popular consensus. The four voters include ESPN.com senior writer John Clayton and three of my blog colleagues: Paul Kuharsky (AFC South), Mike Sando (NFC West) and James Walker (AFC North). Be sure to direct your praise and venom their way.

3. Green Bay Packers

Comment: Who doesn't get excited by an elite quarterback and an explosive offense?

5. Minnesota Vikings
Pre-camp ranking:
Comment: A highly respectful landing spot for a team in significant flux.

21. Chicago Bears
Pre-camp ranking:
Comment: Holding steady in the bottom third of the rankings since spring.

28. Detroit Lions
Pre-camp ranking:
Comment: We'll see what happens if the Lions win Sunday at Soldier Field.
