DANA POINT, Calif. -- Hello from the site of the Great AIG Shindig of 2008. Yes, this is the same St. Regis hotel where everyone's favorite financial giant held an "executive retreat" in October, not long after accepting the first installment of its federal bailout money.

I'm sure they got their money's worth. This is one of the nicest hotels I've ever had the privilege of standing in the lobby of.

OK, enough hotel name-dropping. I do have a bit of news to pass along. For those of you who have asked -- all two of you -- we've got some numbers on the contract extension Minnesota cornerback Cedric Griffin signed last week.

The deal is for five years and a total of a little more than $25 million. It contains $10 million in guaranteed money.

If nothing else, those figures will serve as a jumping-off point if and when the Vikings launch into discussions with their fellow cornerback Antoine Winfield. His contract expires after the 2009 season.

I'll be back with even more exciting news in a bit.
