Favre might want to wait a year

If Brett Favre is itching to come out of retirement, it might be wise for him not to do so in 2008 -- and John Madden is the reason.

Favre is the cover boy for the Madden NFL 09 video game this year. That means he would subject himself to the infamous "Madden curse."

Many great players -- Marshall Faulk, Michael Vick, Ray Lewis, Donovan McNabb, Shaun Alexander -- were coming off great performances before gracing the cover of the popular video game series. Yet, they were either injured or had awful seasons the following year.

Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young was on the cover last season and he threw for nine touchdowns and 17 interceptions.

If Favre plays this season, the Packers might want to consider trading him based on the "Madden curse." Using Madden logic, it could be wise for Green Bay to ship Favre to the Minnesota Vikings or Chicago Bears and let him have the worst season of his career for a division rival.
