FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Let's get straight to the news after one of the most bizarre postgame scenes I've ever seen.
Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress and quarterback Brett Favre both said they expect Favre to start next week against the Arizona Cardinals, despite a brutal hit that knocked him out of Sunday's 28-18 loss to the New England Patriots. Favre took either eight or 10 stitches to his chin, depending on whom you asked, but seemed remarkably clear-headed while speaking to reporters.
While reporters waited for Favre to enter the interview room, receiver Randy Moss popped in unannounced and offered a rambling soliloquy in which he lavishly praised the Patriots -- who traded him three weeks ago -- and took shots at both Childress and the rest of his new team. Moss objected to Childress' decision to go for a touchdown on fourth down late in the second quarter, and he obliquely criticized the Vikings for not taking to heart his insight into the Patriots' schemes.
Moss, who was fined $25,000 last week for not speaking to reporters, would not answer questions and ended the "interview" by literally saluting the Patriots and quarterback Tom Brady.
