We've already noted two notable NFC North injury situations: The ailing knee of Chicago Bears linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa and the quadriceps of Green Bay Packers receiver Donald Driver. Now let's hit the remainder of a busy day of injury news in the division.
- Detroit Lions tailback Kevin Smith will have thumb surgery Thursday and won't be available for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys. His availability will be determined weekly thereafter. Smith has rushed for 133 yards this season as rookie Jahvid Best's backup. Maurice Morris, Jerome Felton and Aaron Brown will work behind Best in Sunday's game.
- Minnesota Vikings receiver Bernard Berrian, who missed last Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears because of a groin injury, did not practice Wednesday. When we last heard from Berrian, he said he was headed to a doctor's appointment Monday. As you know, fellow receiver Sidney Rice isn't sure if he will play Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.
