That didn't take long. An hour or so after Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress laid down the gauntlet, receiver Sidney Rice confirmed that he will agree to be added to the 53-man roster this weekend.
Rice told ESPN's Ed Werder: "I'm going to play. I don't think I can go the whole game but I'm going to play as much as I can."
Rice had surgery in August to repair a still-unspecified hip injury. He was expected to return at midseason but has cited continued discomfort for tapping out of the Vikings' past two games. Childress said Friday that if Rice didn't feel ready to play Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, he would be shelved for the rest of the season.
Despite some uneasiness from both sides on the situation, it doesn't appear Rice was willing to take that step.
