Make sure you check out this piece from Jerry Bonkowski of ESPN Chicago, where Bears receiver Devin Hester minces few words about his hopes for the team's receiving corps.
"I really was hoping we'd have gotten a veteran earlier this year, but it is what it is and we're stuck with what we've got, so we've got to make sure we make the best of it and learn from each other."
Plenty of Bears fans joined Hester in that hope, but as we've discussed many times in this blog, adding a veteran receiver hasn't been in the cards to this point in the offseason. Hester, of course, knows that adding an established receiver would help limit the attention opposing defenses pay to him.
There is a big difference between having an open mind to adding players and believing the team is undermanned without more help. Bears general manager Jerry Angelo certainly falls in the former category. Is Hester making a case for the latter? I'm not sure if he went that far, but we'll all know soon enough if the Bears have shortchanged themselves.
