GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Brett Favre and Mike McCarthy have left the building.
With nothing better to do on a fine evening in Northeast Wisconsin, we stood in the Green Bay Packers' parking lot Monday night for a good while, awaiting word on what appears to have been a marathon meeting between the once-and-possibly-future quarterback and the team's head coach.
And finally ... (cue drum roll) ...
At 11:22 p.m. CT, Favre and McCarthy, driving separately, pulled out of the Lambeau Field loading dock and past a group of fans and reporters. (They both hung a right on Oneida St., if you know the area). Favre waved at the group but did not stop to talk. Neither did McCarthy. Their meeting started at 6 p.m. and blew through a scheduled 8:15 p.m. news conference.
There are still no concrete indications as to whether this issue has been resolved. For all we know, Favre and McCarthy were changing venues to continue their discussion. For now, practice is scheduled for Tuesday at 2 p.m. CT at the Don Hutson Center.
We'll be there, but for now it's time for us to leave the building as well.
