As I was putting together Thursday's post on this season's NFC North race, our friends at ESPN Stats & Information provided some interesting supplementary information. I couldn't find a place for it in the original post but wanted to pass it along regardless.
The Packers, as we noted, are 2-6 this season in games decided by four points or fewer. That performance has brought coach Mike McCarthy's much-discussed five-year record in such regular-season situations to 5-15, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
Context is important, so Elias provided us the following chart to illustrate where McCarthy's .250 winning percentage stands relative to the league. The answer: It's the second worst among active coaches, putting him in some otherwise decent company. The details:
