Snowbound in Philadelphia

12/26/2010

Minnesota Vikings players appear to be making the best of their two-day vacation in Philadelphia.

Receiver Sidney Rice tweeted: "Bouta hit the mall to get clothes.. Staying here for 2 more days"

Meanwhile, punter Chris Kluwe and a few friends have been touring Philadelphia via taxi. Kluwe is providing Twitpic updates via his Twitter account.

In quotes distributed by the team, receiver Percy Harvin said: "They're accommodating us very well at the hotel. We get to wash our clothes, there are movies to watch and we can eat. It's just like being at home. We've just got to stay here, relax and then be ready when it's time to play."

In all seriousness, you have to wonder what impact this delay will have on a Vikings team that has mostly mailed it in the past two weeks. Will they provide any sort of competition at all for the Eagles, who are chasing the NFC's No. 2 seed in the playoffs?

Said place-kicker Ryan Longwell: "We have every reason, because of the season, to say, 'This is the last straw and I'm checking out.' But this is the NFL and you can't do that. You have to show up ready to play Tuesday night and that's what we're trying to get the young guys and everybody to understand."

I presume the Vikings will have some sort of walk-through practice Monday in Philadelphia and then treat Tuesday as a regular game day. No matter how you look at it, these are strange days indeed.
