For those who have been following the progress of the Williams Wall case, the next step is scheduled to take place Tuesday at 10 a.m. ET in a federal appeals court in St. Paul, Minn.
Brian Murphy of the St. Paul Pioneer Press offers a good primer on the legal aspects of Tuesday's hearing. In general terms, the sides are trying to determine once and for all if the case can proceed in state court. The appeals court has indicated it will rule before the start of the NFL regular season.
The ruling could go two ways. One would result in a trial in state court this winter. The other would leave both players, Minnesota defensive linemen Kevin Williams and Pat Williams, suspended for the first four games of the season. Stay tuned.
