MRI: Packers' Mike Neal is day-to-day

On Tuesday, we noted that Green Bay Packers defensive end Mike Neal left practice because of what initially appeared to be a serious left knee injury. Later, Neal said he was "fine" and that "nothing's torn at all."
Wednesday, Packers coach Mike McCarthy said the injury wasn't significant enough to merit an MRI. Thursday, however, McCarthy said that Neal did in fact undergo an MRI and has a sprained knee. While he wouldn't speculate on Neal's return, he did classify him as "day-to-day" rather than "week-to-week" or some other level of NFL jargon.
Neal, who spoke extensively about the injury to several media outlets Tuesday, has been pretty quiet since.
I highly doubt that Neal is going to play in Friday's preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals, but there is no evidence Neal is hurt worse than advertised. Each and every NFL team is capable of distributing misleading injury information, but I won't start getting suspicious about this one unless we go at least a week without seeing him back on the practice field.
