A smart friend of mine suggested I scrap this post, at least for this week. No sense further enflaming the masses. Best to let the emotion of the past few weeks pass over.
Guess I’m a little stubborn. I figure most of you will eventually figure out that I’ll be in Cleveland this weekend, where Minnesota (and quarterback Brett Favre) will open its defense of the NFC North title. Favre interrupted my plans to cover Chicago’s nationally televised game Sunday night at Green Bay. Really, I mean it.
From Cleveland, I’ll post some pregame scene and also participate in a new Cover it Live chat during the game. You’ll be able to find the CiL module on our NFL page.
Please know that ESPN’s growing NFC North family is descending on Lambeau Field. I hope you all have gotten a chance to check out Jeff Dickerson’s Bears blog over on ESPN Chicago. Jeff will be among a host of ESPN Chicago staffers who will be covering the game. You’ll be able to find their work here.
And I’ll take this occasion to welcome Jason Wilde to the ESPN family. Many of you followed Jason at the Wisconsin State Journal and will be happy to know he’ll be blogging the Packers all season. So I’d say we’re covered pretty decently Sunday night, and I’ll weigh in Monday morning with our weekly Three Answers feature (catchy new name determined but not yet revealed!)
And don’t fret. I’ll be expanding my horizons as early as next weekend, when I travel to Detroit to cover the Lions’ home opener.
