Kevin Jones continues the tour

Former Detroit Lions tailback Kevin Jones visited the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday and is scheduled to be in Tampa next week to visit the Buccaneers, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Jones is rehabilitating a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and is not expected to be ready for full contact drills when training camp opens later this month. Jones, who suffered the injury Dec. 23, has not given up on playing this season and is aggressively demonstrating his progress to anyone that inquires.

Jones has a lot of convincing to do, considering his injury-plagued career with the Lions and the traditional 6-8 month timetable for players recovering from ACL injuries. Some might argue Jones is doing himself a disservice by visiting and working out for teams at less than 100 percent. But if he makes a good showing, Jones will at least move up on personnel lists for teams seeking to add depth later this summer or early fall.
