Matthew Stafford's day appears over

DENVER -- Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford hasn't shown any ill effects of a right ankle injury that hampered him during the week. But Stafford did appear to be shaken up by a post-throw hit from Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller late in the third quarter.

Stafford took several seconds to pop up from the hit. He remained in the game for a failed third-down run and then walked slowly off the field. Backup Shaun Hill began warming up, but with the score now 38-3, it probably was time for Stafford to depart anyway.

In three quarters, Stafford has completed 21 of 30 passes for 267 yards and three touchdowns. Hill is set to take over.
