The NFL has granted Detroit a 24-hour extension to sell out its home opener Sunday against Minnesota, a good sign for Lions fans who want to see the game televised locally. Here’s Tom Kowalski’s story on Mlive.com.

The league typically doesn’t grant extensions unless a team is within striking distance of a sellout. The Lions moved about 2,300 tickets in the past 24 hours and have about 1,700 remaining. The new deadline is Friday at 1 p.m. ET.

If tickets are still available at that point, the Lions can either apply for another extension or accept a local television blackout. We’ll keep you updated.
