DETROIT -- There’s a bit of a chill in the air here in Michigan -- it was 49 degrees at 7:15 a.m. ET -- but that will make no difference to us Sunday inside Ford Field. I’ll be heading there in a few hours and will pump you full of the usual pregame scene, news and notes upon arriving.
Once the early games begin, make sure you check out our new NFL Nation Live feature. Many of our NFL writers and bloggers will be contributing pithy observations and discussion topics.
For now, let’s take a quick pregame spin around the NFC North:
- As Chicago prepares for Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh, middle linebacker Brian Urlacher tells Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune that his season-ending injury was “the worst possible thing you could do to your wrist.”
- Brad Biggs of the Chicago Sun-Times looks at the performance of tight end Greg Olsen, who had only one catch in the Bears’ season-opening loss at Green Bay.
- Green Bay has thrown more deep balls (at least 40 yards) than any team but New Orleans since 2006. Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel examines coach Mike McCarthy’s aggressiveness.
- The Packers will look to exploit Cincinnati safety Roy Williams on Sunday, writes Pete Dougherty of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.
- Minnesota quarterback Brett Favre has turned around his record indoors during the second part of his career, notes Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune.
- Chip Scoggins of the Star Tribune profiles Vikings rookie Percy Harvin.
- Sean Jensen of the St. Paul Pioneer Press tries to shed some light on the Vikings’ private and unassuming defensive star, Kevin Williams.
- Detroit right tackle Gosder Cherilus doesn't regret a low hit last season on Vikings defensive end Jared Allen, writes John Niyo of the Detroit News.
- Detroit safety Louis Delmas needs to even out his emotions, writes Carlos Monarrez of the Detroit Free Press.
- Lions place-kicker Jason Hanson looks fully recovered from summer knee surgery, writes Tom Kowalski of Mlive.com.
