This week's installment of the ESPN.com Power Rankings puts Minnesota in its highest spot since Week 1 of the 2005 season.
How do I know that? In an effort to fuel even more debate, we’ve loaded every week of the power rankings since 2002 into our ESPN.com database. Here’s a link to the Vikings’ 2009 power-ranking log. You can access any year and any team from this page. Now get after it.
The Vikings are at No. 5 this week, thanks to some friendly fire from voters Jeffri Chadiha (No. 2) and John Clayton (No. 3). The rest of the NFC North seems fairly reasonable. I’m assuming Green Bay has a two-spot lead over Chicago because it won the teams’ Sept. 13 matchup. Here’s the full Black and Blue order:
5. Minnesota
Trending: Up from No. 8 last week
12. Green Bay
Trending: Down from No. 11
14. Chicago
Trending: Up from No. 15
31. Detroit
Trending: Holding steady
