In case you haven't noticed, ESPN.com is going a little Calvin Johnson-crazy lately. The Detroit Lions receiver graced the cover of ESPN The Magazine's 2012 NFL preview. Here's the photo shoot, cover and cover story. Tuesday night, he was also the subject of a 14-minute profile on ESPN's "E:60."
Reporter Lisa Salters did a really nice job of loosening Johnson up, I thought, and bringing out some genuine reflection about his upbringing and career. Johnson admitted he was scared of getting hit when he first started playing football. He also offered a glimpse into his skills as an artist. Meanwhile, his sister Erica revealed the true reason why Johnson doesn't have elaborate post-touchdown celebrations.
I realize it's late in the evening, but I wanted to get this in front of you as soon as I could. Back with you Wednesday.
