As we enter the final days before the start of the (NFC North) regular season, I want to slam through a quick series on the "pivot players" of this division. To me, they are non-quarterbacks whose individual performance will dramatically and disproportionately impact the success of the team -- based on the position they play or the depth behind them or uncertainty about their own competence.
We'll start with this Blogger Blitz video post on left tackle Marshall Newhouse, the one unproven starter on the Green Bay Packers' offensive line. Backup tackle Derek Sherrod (leg) is out for at least the first six weeks of the season, leaving the Packers without anything close to a safety net should Newhouse falter or be injured.
For the rest of this award-winning analysis, you'll have to watch the video.
By the end of Saturday, I'll nominate one Pivot Player for each NFC North team.
