Longtime readers know I typically wait until Friday to share plans for weekend game coverage. I kind of like how the suspense spurs complete outrage when mild protest would suffice. Mostly, though, I'm just covering for the possibility of a late-week change.
There was never any doubt about Week 1, however. I'm headed east (from blog headquarters) to cover what is probably the best league-wide matchup of the weekend. The Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers figure as two of the NFC's top teams, and this should be a well-played game.
As always, we'll account for each division team on the blog once the games are complete. Our friends at ESPNChicago.com will react to the Chicago Bears' contest against the Indianapolis Colts, while I'll wrap up the season openers of the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings. I'll be back at blog headquarters Monday, and then we'll start it all over again.
For those interested in travel beyond Week 1, here's all I can tell you: For now, my plans have me seeing three of our four teams by the end of Week 2. We'll see how that goes.
