It wouldn't be the NFC North if we didn't have news flying on Thanksgiving Day, along with Every Other Day. So let's run through the highlights as we settle in for the Detroit Lions' game against the Houston Texans:
As expected, Lions left tackle Jeff Backus' streak of consecutive games played is over at 186 (plus one playoff game). Backus' hamstring injury proved too serious for him to play on a short week. Rookie Riley Reiff will make his first NFL start.
The Lions got safety Louis Delmas back after he missed nearly a month because of a recurring knee injury. Delmas is the team's defensive leader and they're usually a different team with him in the lineup. Cornerback Drayton Florence is active despite a concussion that was diagnosed Monday morning, and he'll replace Jacob Lacey (foot) in the starting lineup.
It appears the Chicago Bears have replaced two starters on their offensive line after Monday night's embarrassing performance against the San Francisco 49ers. According to Jeff Dickerson of ESPNChicago.com, right tackle Gabe Carimi has been benched and likely will be replaced by veteran backup Jonathan Scott. We'll have more on that news soon on the blog.
