Catching up on another busy day in the NFC North:

Chicago Bears: It’s official: Linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa will undergo right knee surgery and will miss the remainder of the season. He started two games this season. Nick Roach will eventually take over as the strong-side starter, possibly as early as Sunday at Cincinnati if linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer (ribs) is able to play middle linebacker. Hillenmeyer returned to practice Wednesday on a limited basis. … Coach Lovie Smith also said that Frank Omiyale will remain the starting left guard … General manager Jerry Angelo said the concept for quarterback Jay Cutler’s contract extension came from agent Bus Cook. The Bears had not planned to start discussions until after the season, but Cook and Cutler expressed an interest in an earlier agreement. Cutler had a $12 million roster bonus due in 2011, one he would have lost if the NFL has a lockout in 2011. Here’s what Cutler said on that issue, according to ESPN Chicago’s Jeff Dickerson: “Absolutely, I think every player in the league is concerned with that because we don't know what's going to happen, whether there is going to be a lockout or not. The [NFL Players Association] is advising everyone to save money, so any money you can get before that point is going to be good for any player.”

Detroit Lions: Although his team is in its bye week, coach Jim Schwartz has scheduled workouts or practices through Friday.

Green Bay Packers: New running back Ahman Green participated in part of Wednesday’s practice but told reporters that he doesn’t think he’ll be ready to play Sunday against Cleveland. “It’s going to be more realistic the week after that or the week after that,” Green said. You’ll find full coverage from Jason Wilde here at ESPN Milwaukee. … Left tackle Chad Clifton (ankle) did not practice Wednesday and likely will sit out Thursday as well. But coach Mike McCarthy said the Packers are hoping he will practice Friday and haven’t ruled him out of Sunday’s game.

Minnesota Vikings: Cornerback Antoine Winfield (sprained foot) sat out practice Wednesday and there does not appear to be much optimism he will play Sunday at Pittsburgh. Benny Sapp, Karl Paymah and Asher Allen are all in the mix to replace him.
