GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder just had a very short pregame warm-up that left as many questions as answers here at Lambeau Field about his status for Saturday night's game against the Green Bay Packers.
Ponder walked onto the field at about 5 p.m. ET, accompanied by offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave and athletic trainer Eric Sugarman. He threw perhaps 10-15 light warm-up throws to test his sore right elbow. None of the passes went further than 15 yards. After his final throw, Ponder had a lengthy discussion with Sugarman and Musgrave before leaving the field with Sugarman. Musgrave then spoke with general manager Rick Spielman.
Backup Joe Webb and No. 3 quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson continued their warmups after Ponder's departure. This was the first hard evidence that Ponder's ability to play in this game is in doubt. Stay tuned.
