Henderson wouldn't have practiced Wednesday

If the Minnesota Vikings had practiced Wednesday, linebacker E.J. Henderson would have sat out.

(Hopefully, grammar hounds, we employed the proper subjunctive mood usage in the preceding sentence.)

Vikings players were off Wednesday because they don't play until Monday night at New Orleans. But a relatively new NFL mandate required them to project a participation report if they had practiced. Henderson dislocated several toes last Sunday at Tennessee, and his projected absence Wednesday does not bode well for his projected availability against the Saints.

We should know more on Thursday about Henderson's potential replacement. David Herron is the likeliest candidate, but it's not out of the question that strong-side linebacker Ben Leber could shift inside.
