EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Another round of reports have surfaced Wednesday suggesting Minnesota coach Brad Childress is on the brink of a contract extension. Here is one from ESPN’s Adam Schefter and another from CBSSports.com's Clark Judge.
Childress
Childress just finished practice at the Vikings’ facility but declined to confirm anything afterward. I don’t feel any differently now than I did when this possibility first popped up last month. There has never been any doubt in my mind about the support Childress has from owner Zygi Wilf. It’s absolutely never wavered, and there’s never been any reason to think Wilf wanted anyone other than Childress as his coach.
I'm not sure why Wilf feels compelled to do this before the end of the season; the deal doesn't expire until after the 2010 season. But for some time, this extension has been a matter of when -- not if. Whether it happens Thursday, next week or next month, it’s going to happen.
